Your role
Welcome to an engaging work environment within WaterAid’s team Policy and Programme Partnerships. The team’s focus ranges from policy and advocacy, fundraising and managing institutional funding and restricted grants. As a grant manager you are responsible for managing a portfolio of projects, ensuring adherence to donor requirements and our quality standards. Our work should always have a gender focus, hence the role includes dialogue with country programmes on gender analysis within the projects.
You are also responsible for harvesting learnings from country programmes in relation to the specific projects, as well as contributing to WaterAid’s monitoring and learnings in the implementation of our Global Strategy. We are proud of our work and supporting communication colleagues to share our results and stories from country programmes is an important part of this role.
As WaterAid expands our role in other Nordic countries we are especially interested in experiences of working with Danish institutional donors and/or Danish speaking applicants.
This role involves close collaboration with colleagues in Sweden and internationally. You will report to the Director of Policy and Programme in Sweden and contribute to a dynamic, expanding organisation operating within a larger international federation.
Your responsibilities include:
- Manage a portfolio of contracts from donors and ensuring that we deliver on these.
- Continually monitor progress of the projects to ensure we are delivering as per contract and according to our quality standards. .
- Support County Programmes to develop narrative and financial reports for the donor.
- Conduct a gender analysis of projects and reports provided by country programmes.
- Build and maintain strong donor relationships, fostering trust and partnership growth.
- Support proposal development in collaboration with the corporate team and colleagues across the federation.
- Harvest learnings from projects and contribute to overall analysis and learnings.
- Support the communications team with country programme information in order to communicate storytelling and results in our external communication.
Qualifications and personal qualities
- At least five years of experience in managing grants from institutional donors and/or foundations, including financial monitoring, reporting, and contract review.
- Proven ability to manage donor relationships and strengthen partnerships.
- Experience working in an international NGO, institution, or similar organisation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Detail-oriented, structured, and capable of managing complex information.
- A strong communicator, skilled at engaging with diverse audiences and cultures.
- Pragmatic and solution-oriented, able to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
- Open-minded, adaptive, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Additionally, it is meritorious if you have:
- Have an established network and experience from Danish Institutional funding.
- Proficiency in Danish is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH).
- Experience in conducting gender assessments and analysis
Conditions regarding the position
The position is full-time, with a 38-hour workweek and goal-oriented work schedule. The start date is by agreement. We apply a six-month probationary period, after which the position transitions into permanent employment. WaterAid Sweden follows Fremia’s collective agreement for salaried employees. You will report directly to the Director of Policy and Programme Partnerships.
We have a generous hybrid policy designed to promote a sustainable balance between work and personal life. The position is based in Stockholm, with the flexibility to work both remotely and from WaterAid’s office in Hammarby sjöstad.
